Banga, Aklan – The Aklan State University ground was filled with color and gaiety as it held the week-long Student Convention and Intramural Meet.

The Student Convention with its theme; “Exploring Students’ Potentials through Competitive Activities was held from September 11 to 12, 2006.  It started with a colorful street parade participated by the students and faculty.  The university President Dr. Benny A. Palma, gave a short message and formally declared the opening of the convention.  Included in the two days program were competitions in various areas, such as intellectual, practical and aesthetic competitions.  The convention closed with awarding of certificates to winners.

On September 13, 2006 the Intramural meet with the theme; “Go Sports, Go Healthy,” started.  The first competition was the much awaited Cheer Dance competition followed by rigorous sports competition.

On September 14, 2006, the ASU celebrated the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross with a Holy Mass at Manduyog Hill attended by the ASU officials, faculty, staff, students and devotees. 


Cultural contest and championship games were held.  As a finale, Dance Sport Competition on Latin and Modern Standard was conducted in the university Amphitheater.  The crowd went wild during the Latin American dance competition as the contestants grooved suggestively to the music.

The week-long celebration ended with the announcement of results, distribution of prizes and certificates, and the formal closing of the intramural meet.
