LIBRARY COLLECTION
Books
The General Reference collection is shelved in the
Reference Services Section. This collection includes resources
such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, almanacs,
directories, bibliographies. (Reference Books are not to be
taken out of the Library however photocopies can be made.)
The Reference collection is shelved in the Circulation
Services Section. This collection includes all the circulating
materials of the library.
The Filipiñiana collection is shelved in the
Filipiñiana Services Section. This collection includes books
written by Filipino authors and books pertaining to the
Philippines.
Periodical is shelved in the Periodical Services Section. It
includes all current subscription to journals, magazines and
newspapers and other government documents
Non - Print materials like CD-ROM,
videotapes, cassette tapes, kits and so forth are available at
the Audio-Visual Room.
The Dewey Decimal Classification System
000-099 GENERAL WORKS
This includes reference books as encyclopedias, handbooks,
almanacs, bibliographies, magazines, newspapers, general
collections, manuscripts and rare books, etc.
100-199 PHILOSOPHY and PSYCHOLOGY
This class includes books which deals with metaphysics,
psychology, ethics, methodology, ancient, medieval and modern
philosophy
200-299 RELIGION
This class deals with religion, history of religion, kinds of
religion, church history, theology, the Bible, Christian
churches and sects.
300-399 SOCIAL SCIENCES
This class deals with information about statistics, political
science, economics, law, public administration, social welfare,
education, public service and utilities, customs and folklore.
400-499 LANGUAGE
This class deals with comparative linguistics, the kinds of
languages and includes dictionaries, grammars, and composition
books.
500-599 NATURAL SCIENCES & MATHEMATICS
The book in this class relate to mathematics, astronomy,
physics, chemistry, geology, paleontology, anthropology and
biology, botany and zoology.
600-699 TECHNOLOGY (APPLIED SCIENCE
This class includes books on medical sciences, engineering,
agriculture, home economics, business, manufacturing and other
occupations of men.
700-799 THE ARTS FINE & DECORATIVE ARTS
The books in this class deal with sculpture, architecture,
painting, music, drawing, decorative and graphic arts,
photography and recreation
800-899 LITERATURE & RHETORIC
This class includes books on American, English and Anglo-Saxon,
Germanic, French, Italian, Spanish, classical and Modern Greek
literatures, and those of other languages.
900-999 GEOGRAPHY & HISTORY
This class deals with geography, genealogy, history of the
ancient world, Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America,
and other parts of the world.
