LIBRARY CARD CATALOG
How To Use The Card Catalog Find Book?
For Fiction Books
All fiction books will have author card and title card. If
you know the name of the author of a fiction book, go to the
fiction shelves. All fiction books are on the shelf arranged
alphabetically by the authors last name. If you know the title
of the book, but not the author, look up the title of the book
in the card catalog. Then go to the fiction shelves.
For Nonfiction Books
All nonfiction books will have at least 3 cards: a title
card, an author card, and a subject card.
-
If your
teacher assigns you a subject to do a report, look under
that subject in the card catalog. On a piece of paper, write
down the complete call number and title of the book so it is
easy to find when you go to the shelves.
-
If you
know the name of the author, look up the book by that
persons last name. Get the complete call number and write
it down.
-
If you know the title of a book, look it up by title. Get the complete
call number to find its location on the shelves.
