Eamigas Receives Top PIA Awards |

It's Eamigas' year! Prof. Ersyl T. Biray Adviser of the Eamigas made it to the top ten as one of the Philippine Information Agency's Best Performing School Paper Advisers for 2004 during the search for Western Visayas' outstanding school publication mentors conducted for the first time by PIA Regional Office - 6 in October 2004. The Search aimed to recognized the efforts of the school paper advisers in promoting the development journalism and communication.
For this achievement, Prof. Biray together with the other honorees
received a medal and a certificate of recognition during the 29th
College Press Conference and Awards held at the Iloilo Grand Hotel,
Iloilo City last November 29, 2004. He was also privileged to deliver
the response in behalf of the awardees after the ceremony.
With the same fate, three editors of the Eamigas were also awarded
medals for winning in the writing contest conducted during said
conference. Ryan P. Sastre, Managing Editor won first place in feature
writing (Filipino), Rhochelo L. Catuiran, Associate Editor placed
second to Sastre in feature writing. And second place in editorial
writing (Filipino) and Deodith Grace M. Honrado, News Editor bagged the
fourth place in Editorial writing (Filipino).
And for the fourth time in a row another editor-in-chief of this
paper was chosen as a recipient of the annual PIA IWAG award. Rolly J.
Billoness, student regent and federation president of the
University’s Supreme Student Councils, and this year’s Eamigas EIC
was awarded a medal and a certificate of recognition as one of PIA
Western Visayas IWAG awardees for 2005. The award came as a recognition
of Billones’ contribution in the strengthening of development
communication in campus publication.
